Advanced Telecom Project Management

Course Overview
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of project management principles tailored to the telecommunications industry. It begins with an exploration of common telecom projects in both wired and wireless domains. Participants will analyze real-world case studies based on their industry background, illustrating best practices aligned with globally recognized frameworks such as PMI’s PMBOK.
A key focus of the course is mastering the project lifecycle, from project initiation through planning and executing, to monitoring and controlling, and closing. Participants will gain hands-on experience with essential project management tools and documents, including Project Charter, Scope of Work (SOW), Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Schedule Charts, and Bill of Material (BOM). They will also learn how to identify and manage stakeholders, conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, and implement risk processes to ensure project success. A comparison of waterfall and agile methodologies will also be highlighted.
To enhance practical application, participants will engage in exercises related to critical path method, schedule compression, time and material contracts, and procurement management plans, ensuring efficient cost and schedule control. They will also explore the role of the Project Management Office (PMO) in maintaining a robust Quality Management System (QMS) and enforcing Quality Assurance standards.
Additionally, participants will develop essential reporting and tracking skills by learning to prepare daily progress reports and document key project information. By the end of the course, attendees will be well-equipped to optimize telecom project execution, enhance decision-making, and lead successful project implementations in a fast-paced and result-oriented environment.
This course also includes a demo of software tools like MS Project, highlighting the scheduling, predecessor-successor relationships, GANTT chart, network diagram, setting baselines, tracking, etc. This course is ideal for project managers, board members, steering committees, and network roll-out team members responsible for delivering complex telecom projects on time and within budget.
